PIE graduate student Aiyin Zhang attended the recent American Association of Geographers (AAG) 2024 Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she won first place in the Remote Sensing Specialty Group’s Illustrated Paper Competition with her poster presentation titled “Data quality assessment of loss and gain of a land category during a time series”. Aiyin’s research focused on data quality assessment on time-series maps of pond dynamics at PIE, where the results reveal the uncertainties of reference data and the misleading nature of popular accuracy metrics.
